Far Too Soon.....

We come to you with heavy hearts today as one of our favorite former players, defensive end Nick Rogers, was killed in a car accident yesterday. A two-time 2nd team All-ACC player, Rogers teamed with fellow defensive end Greg Gathers in 2000 & 2001 to give the Jackets one of the nation's fiercest pass rushes. Over those two year's, Rogers & Gathers recorded 38 sacks & 63 tackles for loss, simply astounding numbers. Rogers ranks in the top 10 all-time in both categories at Tech. Rogers was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the 6th round of the 2002 draft & spent time with the Vikings, Dolphins, Colts, & Packers. By all accounts, as good of a football player as Roger's was, he was an even better person. A native of East Point & graduate of St. Pius X, the Roger's family left a deep athletic legacy at Tech as Nick & his brother Philip (RB, 1995-99) both played football while their sister Dana ran track. Our heartfelt condolences to the Rogers family, Nick's friends, & all who were fortunate to know him. R.I.P. #38, far too soon.........
